The plot structure was built up on the grandmothers and girls relationship. The grandmothers sensible no nonsense approach on life and the girls wild child stupidity. The suspense in the story began for me when the girl threw her tantrum with in the first paragraph. It showed me that there was going to be tension it that relationship. Then from there the author held suspense by having it become known that the girl was staying with her grandmother for the year.
Where the story really became suspenseful was the the grandmother going to her daughters grave. From there the bikers pulled up the girl then the granny chasing them the gun the being chased then the being hunted all created suspense for me. The real climax of the story seemed to be surprisingly the calmest part of the story the moments under the docks where the dog was killed and after when they were walking home with the girl with a new found relationship.
